Reykjavik Marathon

Team Red Cross take the 3km Fun Run, mash it up !

We did the Reykjavik marathon again, everybody did 3km, running in the Red Cross team. Then afterwards we went for a walk in the town to enjoy the Culture feastival events. Eirik got involved in an inpromtue Hip Hop dance lesson and Sandra did some Scottish country dancing with her dad. We also ate hotdogs, had ice-cream and went on a ship. A great day.

New Home

Its fairly obvious that I haven´t been blogging for some time, but I have an excuse !!!!!!! We have moved house and have been busy with boxes and things. The best part is the terrace and the gardens, which catch the sun and are real little hot pots... Thats just the thing for my thin blood. I really enjoy having a morning coffee in the garden, pure heaven. Can also practice my golf swing by clipping into the garden. The kids like the place and often dissappear to play with friends next door and build dens.

A plague of boxes has descended but we will overcome.....

We went to see Harry Potter the Movie, all together. It was a good day and a good way to round it off. This has to be the best HArry Potter Movie to date....absolutely tremendous special effects and a cleverly told scarry story.
Looking forward to reading the newest book, Deadly Hallows.

The first week of gymnastics camp is finished. Everybody had made progress with somersaults, head-over-heels and cartwheels. The kids have also work on the balance beam and the rings. There is also plenty of outdoor stuff, so at the end of the day everybody is tired, hungry and happy. This week has been exceptional with regards to the sun, clear skies and some suntanning. On Saturday we went out to the summer house under Esja mountain for outdoor hanging out.
Friday was a big a kind of a big day. The first thing was that I had to sit the last of my exams in Project management; an oral exam. I think it well well and now it’s over for a time. Then straight on the say goodbye to Anna Inga who is having last day at work. She and her boyfriend are on their way to live in Danmark for a time. We had a special lunch at work and relived fun past times. We will miss her at work.

Heat

Everybody is going totally mad about the weather in Iceland, and why not ? Finally summer, really clear skys and hot hot hot (relatively speaking!). Get it whilst its there....... use it or lose it I say........see you in the garden.

Kids have started their summer school activites. Theya are doing a gymnastics/sport summer day camp at Gerplar. There are lots of trampolines, mats and foam cushions to jump into and then room for outside activites and access to the pool. Sandra and Eirikur enjoyed their first day, slept like logs and in the morning discovered muscles that they never thought they had.

17 June National Holiday in Iceland

Sunday was 17 of June and the National Day of Iceland; parades in centre of town, flags and all. Sunday was also exam day, which I did in the morning. Four hours of frantic typing can make your fingers sore and I wish that I was able to touch type. I have been wanting to learn for years but have never managed. Is this dog to old to learn a new trick?

In the afternoon I went to visit hafnafjorður with Gugga for a coffee and a chat. Then it was and evening of competition. The Icelandic National Handball team beat Serbia in an exciting match. Afterwards I went to watch Real Madrid beat Mallorca. , Beckham and co and Tom Cruise in the crowd. What’s not to watch?Evening was topped of with some more reading and then sleeeeeeeep

Exam time

These days are so taken up with reading for exams. Read, read, read, read ! The first of the four exams was this morning, another tomorrow and two more in the week. But men has to eat, and that is a good thing especially when he is invited to a B-B-Q in the countryside. Did get an invite to the Atlanta Girls reunion bash in Kollo.

Yesterday I drove Anna and Iris junior to the airport. They are off to vist Erla and Co in Danmark and I hope they have a super time.

Carmen and Cake

Last Sunday we celebrated Anna´s birthday with chocolate cake and cake and more cake ! On Thursday, as a birthday treat we went to listen to Carmen at the Icelandic Symphony. I have been humming “Toreadore” since and can´t get it out of my head.

3BT - tea in bed, listening to the dishwash and knowing that the kitchen is clean, and sunny mornings.

The White Sunday weekend

Playing mind games with the fish..... and it works.....

We went with friends to stay over in a summer house and enjoy some country air. There was a trampoline, cross country croquet and fish to eat. The sun allowed for breakfast on the deck which was gorgeous. The good weather carried over so that the boys could enjoy a good round of golf on the local golf course and enjoy the veiw of the snow covered mountains. What a lovely weekend!
